The Volunteer Center has been around since 1956 and for over 50 years we’ve managed to support the nonprofit sector’s volunteer needs in Contra Costa and (since 2004) Alameda Counties without a blog, so why start one now? What is the value-add?
Managing people is a complex task and we know this is often an “add-on” responsibility to many other jobs in our sector. Your time is limited and resources are scarce but you still need and want volunteer help.
We hope this blog that will be a valuable resource for local volunteer managers. We seek to provide you with an efficient method of keeping up with the world of volunteerism through clear and concise blog posts. We’ve received wonderful feedback about our volunteer management trainings and this is another avenue for us to share best practices and tools with our partner nonprofits.
And we are choosing to do this through a blog because it’s:
- easily accessible,
- and we already read *tons* of articles and research about volunteer management so why share the best of what we find with you?
Please log on once in a while to search for a topic of interest, or subscribe and you can have our posts directed to your email inbox or rss reader. And we’d be ever so happy if you’d email our posts to your colleagues and/or post them on your favorite social networking sites.
